The Council of Tenerife has set about a dozen actions with the purpose of providing the tourists who arrive to Tenerife, all the information available about leisure offer, activities, and events to increase their expenditure during their stay in the island as well as their satisfaction. These measures were defined by Juan Manuel Bermúdez, tourism counsellor of the island, as the most important communication platform developed for the tourist in the entire country.

Bermúdez outlined that “all these initiatives that include from route maps and billboards with information about leisure activities to internet and mobile phone applications, and tourist channels in the hotel rooms, are the result of more than two years of hard work in the framework of the Tenerife Acoge (Tenerife Welcome) project. The Council of Tenerife, municipalities’ councils, the Canarias government, the national government, and the private sector participate in this project”.

Likewise, the Turismo de Tenerife (Tenerife Tourism) manager, Alberto Bernabé, said that with this initiative it is shown that “the marketing campaigns we run in the island are as important to us as the international campaigns to attract visitors”. Besides, we want this campaign to “finish with the myth of the tourists that don’t leave their hotel room, and don’t get to know the island in its entire dimension”.
Apart form this, the director of the Atención en Destino (Destination Services) office, Mayte Mederos, enumerated the main novelties about the promotional material, and Bermúdez said that the variety of formats and services the Infotén’s offices provide “are not only at the service of tourists but residents as well”.
