The tourist channel of Tenerife – broadcasted 24 hours a day free of charge in four and five stars hotels – will be available in three languages: Spanish, English and German. This was recently agreed by the members of the Council of Tenerife who awarded to the local company ‘Descubre Canarias’ the concession of the content broadcasting for five months for 11,107 euros each.

José Manuel Bermúdez, vice-president of the Council and tourism councillor, stated on a press release that “this channel is another element to be added to the communication platform developed to provide tourists with all the necessary information about the tourist offer of the island, which is complemented by the free information services provided by the “call center”, the Tenerife guide application for mobile phones, the Bluetooth transmitters, the calendars of events at hotels, and the web site Webtenerife.com.

This awarding allows tourist contents to be broadcasted in four channels. One of them is an institutional channel which provides tourist information about the island together with the standard advertising sport of Tenerife, as well as the events of the month and promotional videos from the different municipalities. The other three channels are broadcasted in three different languages and they include documentary films and interviews about nature, traditions, active tourism, modern Tenerife, family tourism, events and top ten places of the island.

This initiative is part of the “Plan de Dinamización del Producto Turístico Tenerife Acoje” (Tenerife Tourist Product Boosting Plan) which includes the participation of three public entities which are: the Council of Tenerife, The Tourism Department of the Canarias Government and the Government of Spain, created with the purpose of creating new tourist products and fostering the current ones.
