Ten finalists of the Canarias Chefs Competition have been nominated to compete for the award
‘Turismo de Tenerife’ has announced the names of the ten finalists who will participate in the sixth edition of the Canarias’ Chefs Competition award ‘Tenerife 2010’ that will take place the 19th and 21st of April, at the International Exhibitions and Congress Center together with the Expohostel and the Food Exhibition shows.
The nominees are: Emilio Cabrera from Lanzarote, Thomas Leeb from Gran Canaria, Juan Carlos Rodríguez from La Palma, and Isaac González, Miguel Navarro, Henry Montés, Hans Joachim, Patricia García, Ignacio Hernandez and Romén Daniel de León from Tenerife.
The vice- president of the council and tourism counsellor of the island, José Manuel Bermúdez, explained in a press release that this competition “is considered as the most important in the archipelago and it serves as motivation for the creativity of the professionals of this area”.
The nominated chefs shall elaborate a course in which the main ingredient must be native rabbit, one of the most used meats in the Canarias’ cuisine, and another course of free choice that can not be a dessert.
Regarding the award, the organization of this event has established an prize of 1,500 euros for the winner chef, and prizes of 1,000 and 600 euros for the second and third place respectively. The best kitchen assistant will receive a prize of 500 euros as well.
