Non-hotel accommodation in Canarias raised 7.4%
Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote are in the first four places at a national level as far as non-hotel accommodations are concern.
The non-hotel stays in Canarias raised 7.4% between May 2009 and May 2010, which puts the Canarias Islands in first place as Spanish tourist destination. Last month, the number of stays in non-hotel accommodations in the islands was 1,678,196 from which 1,404,127 belong to foreigner tourists. The number of tourists that stayed at non-hotel accommodations was 239,516 being 7 the average numbers of days they spent in the islands. The data was released today by the National Statistics Department of Spain.
According to this authority, the percentage of stays in non-hotel accommodations was 44.21% from an estimated total of 53,860 departments and houses. The number of employees hired to assist customers of this sector last month was 10,660 people.
La Palma is in first place about non-hotel accommodation stays, followed by Santa Cruz de Tenerife. At a national level, Gran Canarias is in second place after Mallorca, followed by Tenerife in third place and Lanzarote in fourth place. Fuerteventura is in the seventh place.
Regarding tourist areas, San Bartolomé de Tirajana in Gran Canaria, is in first place, followed by Arona in Tenerife, and Tías in Lanzarote according to this ranking. Morgán in Gran Canaria is in seventh place, followed by Teguise in Lanzarote in eight place and Adeje in Tenerife in ninth place.
