Adeje will be for the first time the venue for the upcoming Spanish Basketball Championship as well as for the female basketball junior championship, that will take place from 15th to 18th of April at the “Pabellón Deportivo de las Torres” in this municipality.
Clemente Mesa explained that on this Spanish championship participate teams from Andalucía, Extremadura and Canarias, which is a novelty because in the past the teams from Canarias where the ones who had to travel to the different regions.

Besides, Marcos Barreras, technical director of the Canarias’ Basketball Federation, expressed his satisfaction for having Adeje as venue for the Spanish basketball championship in its inter-sector stage. “Adeje has a main role in sports as it is known, especially in basketball, having a team formed two years ago which has demonstrated its value last year competing in Andlucía in the inter-sector stage”, he said. The two championships that will take place in Adeje involve the two main junior categories in basic basketball.

He also highlighted the level of the championship that will be held in Adeje, because in Canarias will participate teams that are candidates to be among the firsts of the Spanish basketball championship, while in the inter-sector championship there will be competing tams such as the Unicaja or the Cajasol which will be favourites in the final stage of the Spanish championship.
