Playa Americas is the most popular tourist location in Tenerife. It is situated in Tenerife south, and is characterized by spectacular beaches, surf, great night life, water parks and whale watching.

Note: Playa Americas (or Playa de las Americas) is just the name of the beach, but people tend to call the surroundings Playa Americas as well.

The climate is sunny the whole year round, and as its name points out, it has one of the best and most important beaches on the island. The beach was built – yes, built – with sand from the Sahara Desert, Africa.

Playa Americas was one of the first tourist nucleus´ to develop in Tenerife in the 1960´s, next to another tourist town called Los Cristianos. Both of which belong to the Adeje Coast.

More than 2 million tourists choose the “Adeje Coast” for their holidays, in this area of Tenerife; nautical sports are practiced, such as surfing, scuba diving, speedboat racing, etc. This Area is also blessed with whales and dolphins living in the seas off Tenerife all year round, only a few miles from the coast.

Playa Americas and Adeje Coast have plenty of stores, shopping centers, casinos, hotels, conference centers, theme parks, sports and golf centres.
